Were closed all the mines because the government did not want to invest in the mines, as the government before had given a lot of money.
3.Chapter 1: Two young lives -" Life was not easy for the Thomas family." Why ? ( 3 lines ) - Richard Thomas had been killed while fighting in North Africa in 1943. Which war was it ? - In chapter 1 we know that Megan and Huw are good friends. Describe the moment
Because Your mather died when he was born. Your brother also died in the war on North Africa. His father drinks a lot and he and his brother haven’t money for eat.

- I thought That you could get somebody better.
- But I wanted huw, you bronk my heart dad.
In the first letter Meg asks Huw: " Do you think he wanted me to find them when it was to late?". What dou you think?

-Before leaving Tredonald, Huw told Megan : "in a year ...I'll come back here and we'll get married..." ( pag.23 ); but things turned out to be completely different. Why ?
Things turned out to be completely different because Megan never received Huw’s letters, and Huw, in the end he thought that Megan didn’t love him and married another woman.
